Optical fiber

Optical fiber connectors, commonly known as connectors,have been proposed by the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) as "passive components for the stable, but not permanent connection of two or more optical fibers" (CCITT’s Study Group VI was passed in Geneva in March 1992). It is used for the detachable (active) connection between the optical fiber. It precisely butt-joins the two ends of the fiber, so that the light energy output from the emitting fiber can be coupled into the receiving fiber to the utmost, and the impact on the system due to its intervention in the optical link is minimized. An optical fiber active connector is a passive optical device that realizes active connection between optical fibers. It also has the function of connecting optical fibers with active devices, optical fibers and other passive devices, optical fibers, and systems and meters. The active connector has developed along with the development of optical communication, and now has formed a complete range of system products of various types,which is one of the indispensable and widely used basic components in the field of optical fiber applications.

Although optical fiber (cable) moving connectors vary widely in structure and variety, they can be divided into the following parts according to their functions: connector plugs, fiber jumpers, converters, matrix converter and so on. These components can be used individually as a device or they can be used together as a component. In fact, an active connector customarily refers to two connector plugs and plus one converter.

Connector

The component that makes the optical fiber complete the plugging and unplugging function in the converter or converter is called a plug, and the connector plug is composed of a pin body and several external mechanical structural parts. After the two plugs are inserted into the converter or converter, the optical fiber (cable) can be docked; the mechanical structure of the plug is used to effectively protect the optical fiber. The pin is a precision cylinder with micro-holes, and the pins are made of stainless steel, all-ceramic, glass, and plastic. ceramics are used in the market today. Ceramic materials have excellent temperature stability, wear resistance and corrosion resistance, but they are also more expensive. Plastic plugs are cheap but not durable. There are also many plugs in the market that use plastics to impersonate ceramics, and engineering personnel should pay attention to the identification when purchasing.

Wire jumper

Both ends of an optical fiber are plugged, called wire jumpers. The connector plug is a special case of a jumper, that is, only one end of the fiber is plugged. In engineering and instrument applications, a large number of jumpers of various types and specifications are used, and the plugs of the two optical fibers in the jumper may be the same model or may be different models. Jumpers can be single-core or multi-core. The price of the jumper is mainly determined by the quality of the connector. Therefore, the price also differs greatly. When choosing a jumper, it is good to go for selection based on quality and low price, but be sure not to buy products with low quality.

Converter

A device that converts a certain type of plug into another type of plug is called a converter. The device consists of two parts, of which one is a certain type of converter and the other half is a plug of another type. When using a plug of a certain model into the same type of converter, it becomes a plug of other models. In practical engineering applications, it is often encountered that there is a certain type of plug on the hand, and the meter or system is another type of converter that cannot be matched with each other and cannot work. If you have this type of converter, the problem will be solved. For the FC, SC, and ST connectors, to be fully interchangeable, there are the following six types of converters. SC-FC, converts SC plug to FC plug; ST-FC converts ST plug to FC plug; FC-SC converts FC plug to SC plug; FC-ST converts FC plug to ST plug, SC-ST will SC The plug is converted into an ST plug; ST-SC transforms the ST plug into an SC plug.
